The hospital said in a release today that this state-of-the-art Boston facility, located along Cambridge Street, is expected to open in 2027 and will enhance the hospital’s ability to provide comprehensive cancer care.

The Philip and Susan Ragon Building will span nearly 1 million square feet and feature two towers when construction is completed. In one of the towers, the Mass Gen Cancer Center will offer vital cancer services such as prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship, along with 228 acute inpatient care beds and 32 ICU beds. The design includes an 8,000-square-foot rooftop garden.
Project plans also include a new Center for Urgent Cancer Care that will provide specialized care for cancer patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The clinical care building will feature 482 single-bed inpatient rooms, allowing MGH to phase out outdated double rooms and enhance patient privacy and comfort. It will include operating rooms, imaging facilities, infusion rooms, and a pharmacy.
The building design aims to create a welcoming entry point along Cambridge Street, improving access for patients and families. The facility will provide six levels of underground parking for 864 vehicles and space for 566 bicycles.
The hospital said its cancer program conducts over 200,000 outpatient visits and more than 9,000 inpatient admissions annually.
